My 3 month old aeroccino quit working, so I called the company. They told me to never store it on the base if the base is plugged in, because there is enough electricity coming through to tell the unit it's on. Since I had done that and it quit working, she told me to put it upside down for 48 hours. That worked! It now works fine. Only store the unit off the base or on the base if the base isn't plugged in. This will save you a lot of grief. I love this machine and think it works beautifully.


This product is defective and should not be sold. When it works, it is grand. Unfortunately, after about 10 uses it starts failing. Nespresso has sent me two replacements and, in addition, two new sets of aggitators. So I have ample experience -- over one year -- with multiple replacements.

The way it is supposed to work is simple: the aggitators (one for froth, one for "flat" hot milk) have magnets in them and they just sit on top of a nub on the bottom of the reservoir. An electric charge from the motor inside makes the aggitators spin because of their magnets. Great idea.

The problem is that the aggitators spin right off the nub. At first that doesn't happen, but the magnets are weak, and within 10 uses, it starts happening about 25% of the time. 50 uses, and it happens 100% of the time. So to make hot milk you need to stop the machine, stick your fingers in the milk, fish around for the aggitator, and replace it. I find that to get the milk hot I usually have to do this three times! It is ridiculous.

I have called their support line, and they readily will keep sending replacements. That's stupid. Also, their tips are lame and don't do anything at all.

I am online new looking for another product. Nespresso should be ashamed to sell this junk.


This product requires way too much TLC for the price. If you have more than one memeber of your household wanting to use it, you have to wait until it cools back down. It doesn't make the milk hot enough or in a big enough quantity. In this economy, it is just too expensive and requires too much patience. Not worth the price, not even close.


I have a nice coffee/espresso machine so I thought it would be a nice treat. First one I received worked for about 6-10 uses, then would still heat milk but no froth. I returned it to William Somona with no problem, and got a replacement. This unit didn't even work out of the box. FRUSTRATING. (I should have listened to one of the guys who worked there and tried to discourage me from getting it because too many units were being returned.)

Also it can only froth a small amount of milk- barely enough for one. It does look nice, easy to clean and quiet but it you are looking for froth- a real hit or miss. I am returning my second machine and will look for something else. If you take the gamble make sure you get it from a place with a good return policy.


great frother. depending on how much milk/froth you like with your coffee this might be more of a single cup/travel mug size, good for 1 person, 2 if you dont like a lot of milk.

the froth produced is super. sticks around until the end of your cup of coffee. frothing only takes about a minute.

clean up is a snap. there are holes/ports for air flow to the motor so you do not want to dunk this into water. we run the hot water into the frother, rinse it out, use a little soap and then dry off the inside. the inside is one solid metal cup except for a small nub that the magnetic spring spins around on to froth the milk. no nooks or crannies in the cup for milk to get into and go bad.

worst part about this is the price... expensive. but if you like frothy milk (or just warm milk for your coffee), this item is great.

This product was a major disappointment.

First of all, as others have mentioned, the device's capacity is frustratingly small. If you're trying to make a latte, for example, you'll probably want to run it twice -- very annoying.

But worse is that the temperature is unreliable. Two-thirds of the times that I used it, the temp was okay -- not as hot as I'd like, but in the ballpark. But the other third of the time, it was NOT hot milk. What good is that?!

Finally, for no apparent reason, on some uses, the magnetic paddle didn't seem to stir the milk properly, and it left a burnt-milk scum on the bottom of the device, as though you were heating milk on a stovetop and forgot to stir it.

Find another frothing solution!


this is a great frother, fast and makes perfect foam but it has what seems to be a major design flaw, we have now had (and broken) 2 and both suffered from the same issues. As soon as some water accidentally gets into the inside (from the small holes underneath) while cleaning then you need to get your credit card out and buy a new one. as much as I love this machine and its ease of uses - I am buying something different this time.


I received this from my brother as a Christmas present. Although I look at small electric kitchen appliances, I never saw this before. It's a great small appliance as it quickly heats the milk and froths it. For a small hot chocolate, you may need to do 2 portions (1.5) in it to create the milk but it is great as the milk comes out warm and not burnt (in a pot or microwave). It's fast and efficient. The only comment is that the instructions are easy to follow but do not tell you to put in cold milk. The first time I heated up the milk and it turned off in a few seconds, so it must have a built in thermostat... Works great with soy milk too. Easy to rinse under the tap and a soft sponge.


This version is much better designed than the prior version. Soap and water will not get into the electrical base as easily, if you use some care. Clean up is easy, and it's best to place upside down on a rack for drying rather than storing on the base, which most people leave plugged in.

Produces a perfect volume of hot or cold frothed milk, and the froth is firm and delicious. The best thing about this product, however, is the customer service that comes with it - truly a refreshing experience than normal customer service. We received this model after the prior version stopped working (we stored on the base), a year after we bought it -no receipt required. We got advice about using the new model, and it's been wonderful. Well worth the money!


I purchased an Aeroccino but found it less than easy to clean without scratching it, slightly unreliable, and too small to cater for more than 2 cups at a time. In addition it did not really heat the milk adequately when taken directly from the fridge. Eventually it stopped working and I had to return it.

After looking at the reviews for Aeroccinos on Amazon, it seemed that many others had experienced similar problems. One reviewer recommended the Froth Au Lait, which prompted me to purchase one to give it a try.

I have been very happy with the Froth Au Lait and in my opinion it is unrivalled in quality and price anywhere. It heats the milk perfectly directly from the fridge and the froth is amazing.

I have since purchased another UK (230V) model, and shipped it to England since there is nothing to rival it in the UK market.

My opinion: save your money, and take a chance on the Froth Au Lait. You won't be disappointed.
