This is the best tasting and most efficient coffee maker I have ever owned. The only issue we have had is with the Aeroccino milk frother. There are obviously issues with this machine as we have now had 2 fail on us and judging my other online comments this is a common occurance. It is a shame the unreliable Aeroccino takes away from an otherwise perfect Expresso and Coffeemaker.
Let me start by saying that I really don't drink coffee. But, that's part of the reason I ended up getting this machine. Though I don't drink coffee, I do have friends that do and I wanted to be able to have something available when entertaining. I used to have a manual espresso machine but then I had to have bags of coffee around that I didn't use and it was a bit of a mess to clean up and set up. So, I decided to try the Nespresso machine. It is easy to use and the cleanup is not a problem. The frother works reasonably well (though it works best when you make limited quantities of milk or foam). The pod system makes offering a variety of choices possible without a lot of waste (save the capsule itself). Even the coffee-snobbiest of my friends says it makes great coffee and this machine was reasonably priced. I've read all the complaints about the cost of the pods and the complaints about getting "trapped into a system", but truth be told for my purposes that's not really an issue. The single serve process fits my needs quite well.
Great little machine. Got this so that I do not need to clean up too much as my previous manual espresso machine need a lot of work after making a cup a espresso. The milk frother is great for making latte and cappuccino. Recommend for anyone who love a good cup of espresso.
My husband resisted getting the Nespresso. But starting from the forst cup, he said, "This isn't just having a cup of coffee, it's an event!"
We have owned this set for over a year and could not be happier! Perfect coffee every time. Perfect froth every time. Big hit when we have parties as well! Do not hesitate on either one of these items. Nespresso customer service is also 5 stars. Don't see a need for the more expensive models either as this one is rock solid.
This is an amazing little machine. It produces delicious espresso very quickly and easily. It is compact, sturdy, and looks good. It is a big improvement over the D150 I used previously.
The C100 is designed so that spent capsules are dropped in a basket inside the machine. After this basket is full, you can pull the entire front of the machine out, to throw out the capsules and rinse the drip tray. Overall, it is very easy to keep the machine clean.
I haven't used the Aeroccino much, however it is pretty easy to use and clean, and it produces a good frothed milk.
My only complaint is the cost of the capsules, although I suppose it is still cheaper (and more convenient) than Starbucks.
I was hoping to replace Starbucks/Peet's with the Nespresso. It doesn't. I drink Americanos, black. I can tell that what comes out of the Nespresso machine is not espresso. Americanos will last for days in the fridge and taste exactly the same as when you got it. The shots from Nespresso are only good as soon as they come out. After they cool, they taste awful! In fact, they taste awful faster than simple coffee!
The pods themselves aren't very good, and I've gone through all the various pod varieties. Mostly, they lack body and flavor. I simply don't get the coffee-ness compared to store made Americanos. There's even variation within the same flavor. The current Dulsao is awesome, or so I thought. When I bought it again, I wasn't that impressed. I thought it was weak. I suspect if they put more coffee grounds in the pods, things might be better.
And here's a really big problem: I don't think they have as much caffeine as store bought Americanos. I drink 5 pods a day; my body feels like it's gotten plenty of coffee (feels a little toxic), but I get absolutely no caffeine buzz. Absolutely nothing. I do get the caffeine rebound headache though, if I stop. And I have insomnia if I have pods at night. This is like drinking a neutered drug. Absolutely no brain power. And, here's another weird thing, store made Americanos don't keep me up at night, even if I drink it just before bed.
The cost is expensive for the amount I'm drinking. So, I going to buy probably the Gaggia and make espresso manually.
It makes very smooth and delicious lattes, cappuccino, etc. Its easy to use and quick. The little espresso containers come with a complementary luxury-style box and I like to show it to our guests and let them choose the flavor they want. Initially, I was against buying espresso machine but my husband really wanted one, and he did a lot of research to find the best value for the money. Now I am really glad we have it. The only criticism I have is that it is pretty expensive if you account for the refills price, and that the milk does not get sufficiently hot in the frother.
This is the best espresso machine I've ever purchased. It was recommended by a friend and I can't believe I lived this long without it. It takes no time what-so-ever to have the best latte right at home. At first I wasn't thrilled about having to buy the pods, but that's part of the beauty of this simplistic machine. I love it, and highly recommend it to anyone who loves their latte every morning. And if you are a very busy person, then this is for you. It takes so little time, and you don't have to do anything but start it up. Same with the frother.
